# Tape Engine

Tape Engine lets authors and AI assistants research a niche, write a manuscript, design a cover, produce an audiobook and export unbranded PDF/DOCX files.

## Authentication

Send `Authorization: Bearer <api_key>`. Users create a personal API key in Tape Engine under Settings -> MCP Server. OAuth 2.1 with PKCE is also supported by MCP clients.

- generate_outline: Generate a structured chapter outline for a project.
- write_book: Write and save manuscript chapters.
- generate_cover: Generate an AI book cover.
- export_pdf: Compile the manuscript into a downloadable PDF.
- get_job: Check the status of a long-running job.
- list_projects: List the signed-in user's projects.
- get_project: Read a project with its chapters and metadata.
